Hi there
I have just joined the forum, & will be joining the Society....
I now live in the far north of Scotland, but was born in North London
My research over a good many years has been fruitful & am now looking for more local information & confirmation of my Ancestors & their life/family/stories etc,

I am coming to stay for a weeks break in Temple-Sowerby in September this year, & would like to know in advance & be prepared of the best places for me to seek for information....
If anyone could help with this request  I would be extremely grateful
Nicholas Temple 16/4/1780 Morland Farmer m. Margaret Docker Cliburn ?
thanks Clive TEMPLE

Clive, welcome to the Forum.
I looked for Dockers in the Cliburn registers for 1565-1812 and there is only a Jane Docker who married George Workman.
There are Temples in the Morland area, they seem mainly to be in Kings Meaburn. I am not sure what the record you give refers to, is that date Nicholas's birth or is that their marriage and if so do you know where they married.
The records for Morland and Cliburn are held at the Kendal Archive. There are some transcriptions and microfiche readily accessible at Kendal Library, but to access the original records you will need an appointment at the record office and will need to have applied for a readers ticket in advance. According to IGI the date 16 Apr 1780 for Nicholas TEMPLE is his bapt at Morland, CUL, son of Thos. TEMPLE & Ann.

This was possibly Thos TEMPLE & Ann JACKSON who had son Thos. Bapt 25 Jun 1789, Morland.
