On Wednesday last the prisoners in our gaol were turned over from the late to the present Sheriff, Sir Wilfrid LAWSON, Bart.—Mr. BENSON, attorney at law, of Cockermouth, is appointed Under-Sheriff, and Mr. Joseph MULLINDER is again restored to the office of gaoler.
DANCING.— Mr. M'GREGOR's Ball is fixed for Wednesday next.—See the advertisement.
On the 25th inst. a fine new vessel of 200 tons burden, called the Ann, built for Capt. W. YOUNGHUSBAND, was launched from the building-yard of Mr. S. NICHOLSON, Whitehaven.
