Ormside

An ancient parish, East ward, Westmorland.
St. James, stands on a site sacred before the coming of Christianity and used by the Vikings. The date of the first Christian church is unkown but the current church has elements from the 11th century. Modifications were made in the 12th and 16th centuries and it was restored in 1885.
